Seasonal allergies are common health condition that appear because of  reactions to pollen or grass. Such type of allergies are seen mainly during a specific time of the year especially when the weather changes. Millions of people suffer from seasonal allergies as the spores of trees, flowers and grass makes it way into the air. Grass allergy is also known as hay fever because their causes and symptoms are similar. The symptoms of seasonal allergy are runny nose, wheezing, sneezing are red eyes. The severity of seasonal allergy symptoms usually varies with the seasons.

Seasonal allergies affect people during specific months, usually because of exposure to certain airborne allergens such as pollen. An allergic reaction to pollen, often diagnosed as hay fever or allergic rhinitis can irritate the membranes around the nose and the eyelids. In effect, people with allergic rhinitis will experience symptoms such as runny nose, nasal congestion, frequent sneezing, itchy eyes, nose, ears and throat, post-nasal drip, and generalized fatigue.

There may also be some wheezing and a chronic cough may develop. When the symptoms are too severe, it may develop into asthma. This can cause discomfort, and may even be fatal, especially to infants and young children.

Seasonal allergies are allergic reactions which cause the inflammation of the lining of the nose. These allergies normally occur in certain season and the allergens involved are mostly from pollen of some weeds, trees or grass. Seasonal allergies are also known as hay fever. However, the term hay fever is not usually used as the allergy is not due to the cut hay but because of the living weeds, trees and grasses and the allergy does not result to fever.

Cases of seasonal allergic rhinitis shoot up in mid-August when ragweed allergy season begins. There are about 36 million people in the United States suffering from allergic reactions caused by billions of pollen in the air, traveling for hundreds of miles.

There might not really be cure for allergies but there are a lot of medications which you can buy over the counter or have prescribed by your doctor, which can help control your allergy symptoms. Annoying allergic rhinitis symptoms like sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, nasal congestion, and throat irritation can be handled well with antihistamines, prescription nasal sprays, allergy shots or other medicine combinations.
